Default Lowered 4X4?

Is there a way to substantially lower a 4WD reg cab Silverado? I remember reading on Parish's website where he might have lowered his a little bit, but I'm talking a few inches lower. Does anyone know of a way to do that? See the problem is I want to build a clean lowered street truck, but I'm going to be moving to Connecticut in the fall, so unless I want to park it half the year, I need a 4X4, but I also want a lowered truck. Is there a way to combine the two?

I want to do the same thing. Try looking at McCaughy's. Also look on Silveradoss.com, lots of people do that to their SS's.

Parish lowered his 3" in the rear and 1.5" in the front, he used shackels in the rear and trimmed the torsion rubber snubbers in the front, I'm sure you could get a flip kit for the rear and some new springs for the front, bout the only way I could think of lowering it more than that.

Yeah, I read that section on Parish's website about how he lowered his truck and it looks really good. However, to me it looks more like a stock ride height 2WD than an actual lowered truck. Which is perfect for a sleeper like his, but I want mine to be a little more noticeable. Well, I have to go pick up my brother at the airport, hopefully there will be some more answers when I get back!

One more quick thing, the McGaughy's 2/3.5" lowering kit only says that it is for '03-'04 SS's. Would it work on any other '99+ 4WD Silverado or only an SS?

Here is a pic of 2500hd 4x4. i used belltech lowering keys in the front. For the back i used 5'' lowering shackles and pulled out a few springs from the pack.

well you can't get springs for the front since it's a 4x4... but I would look into 2" drop spindles and torsion keys for the front. You can get a 4" drop with this setup. For the rear, you can do a flip kit for the leafs... or a 5" drop coil if it's an SUV.

McGaughy's makes a lowering kit for the SUV's and trucks that will work with 4x4's. It's probably the best kit out there right now for 4x4's.

McGaughy's kits will work with a regular 4x4 if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if it is the SS kit or a different one though.

I plan on lowering my 4x4 this summer. I only got a 4x4 because I live in WI and need to be able to drive my truck year round, that inclues in the winter on snow and ice.

Here is a pic of a 2/4 McCaughy drop on Z71. It's a member from another sites truck.
