Lowering Kits
I am trying to decide on a lowering kit. Stock is just not a good ride height. I'm wanting to lower it not only for looks but of course better handeling. Silverado's handel good for a truck, but, I want it to handel like a sports car, so the first step is lowering it.
So my question to you is, what type of lowering kit? How low? I was thinking 4/6. and What type of shocks?
Ive been looking at DJM, Belltech, and Ground Force (real cheap, no so sure).
(And, I know that a lower and good drop will replace the spindles, and how hard is it to remount a new set of lowered suspension spindels?)

I have not installed my spindles yet but I hear that McGaughys make the best spindles for NBS trucks. They seem to maintain more of your turning radius. The hardest part of the spindle install is probably breaking the ball joints loose.
A 4/6 drop will require that you flip your springs and cut your frame and install a c-notch kit. The frame can be cut with a saws-all AFAIK but is not for the timid or mechanically challenged.
Do lots of research before making up your mind. You can find more info on
FullSize Chevy under the Street forum as well.
Good luck

Depending on what size wheels you can get new style spindles from Belltech and you don't have to deal with ball joints. To me doing a set of spindles is easy...it's just nuts and bolts. Personally I think springs are harder to install than spindles. It all depends on how low you want to go, mc gaughys, hotschiks and belltech all make good stuff that will work for your application.

You will have to remove and modify the lower ball joint mount (requires removing rivets).
