LS1 and NV3500 in S10 ZR2
Let me start out by saying that I know the NV3500 is less than optimal for use with an LS1. I currently have a 99 S10 ZR2 5 speed. I have in my possession an 03 Corvette engine. I would like to install the LS motor using the stock NV3500 for the time being. I plan on upgrading to an NV4500 when time and money allow. I know that the I can bolt an LSx motor to the NV3500 as far as the bellhousing goes. I would like to know what other issues I might need to overcome. What flywheel and clutch? Can I use the 4.3 flywheel and clutch? Will the LS1 starter work with the S10 flywheel? Anything else you guys can think of. Thanks alot ahead of time. This is my first time on this forum. If I had known about it, I would have been here sooner.

No input on this guys? Some more research and I found a dodge version of the NV3500 that is an HD. Rated for 350ftlbs. What is beefed up in this trans to make it HD? Can the internals be put into a GM NV3500? Maybe I will post this in the dodge section too?

Well form what I gather, that would give me a lower first gear which I don't want. Unless, do you know if the NV3500 behind the 4.8s are the HD version?

why not just find a used t-56 and stick it in their? you'd be much happier. the nv 3500 and nv4500 are very slow shifting "truck transmissions". i can't wait to get my nv3500 out and swap a t-56 in.

Well I am keeping the 4wd so the T56 won't work without alot of cutting and welding of the tail housing on the T56. I can do all that but the stock ratios are also wrong for a truck. If I can get alternate ratios for 1st and 2nd then I may do that.
