Default M6 Swap

This is a little project I did for a friend of mine..I just noticed the M6 Swap Thread uptop of here right after I posted this..I don't come in here much.

Here is what we started with..

Started to tear into it..

LS7 Clutch Kit

Stock LS1 F-Body T56

Yes I used a Ratchet Strap to install it..

Installed with the factory Manual Cross Member and Poly Mount..

Here is the Interior..still have some finishing touches to do.

I cut the Pedal and put on a stock Cover, installed a Manual Steering Column Cover after I removed the Shifter, and did a little bit of wiring. The Shifter is a B&M Ripper with a little bit of an extention.

Not too bad for a few days of work, we still have a couple of bugs to work out, it drives very well.

Next is the 6.0l..

What pics do you want to see?

We used a stock Manual Pedal and bolted it in.

Looks good! I used to use ratchet straps too. Works like a charm.

I don't know what it came out of.. my friend bought it from the Dealer new.
It mounted to the Fire Wall though the Auto Petals. I had to drill 2 holes all the way through the Fire Wall to get it to bolt up, it was easier that way. The 2 holes are directly behind the Brake Booster so you don't see them.
Next time I see him I'll snap a pic for ya.

Well here is an update on this little project.. we worked a few bugs out I guess you could say..

After the install and Hydraulics were bled we took it for a test drive to check everything out.

This was how it went..

1st: Smooth as butter..
2nd: Smooth aswell..
3rd: grinds like a bitch..
4th: same as 3rd..
5 & 6: shot to **** too..
Reverse: works fine.

It drove great, just had these problems.

So i start playing with it.. shifting slow while shifting it into 3, 4, 5, 6 when the Engine idled back down after I would push the Clutch in. I found them to go in smooth so that narrows that down right there to a Synchro problem.

Well my friend drove it around for a little bit and 3rd locked him out. I drove it and got it into 3rd with a little smack of the Shifter, so that made me think there is a problem with the Keys.

Yesterday I tore it down to find this..

On the magnets there are all the Keys for the 3-4 Slider, and the 5-6 Slider. All the Pads on the 3-4, 5-6, and the Reverse Forks were like the ones pictured there. the 1-2 Fork Pads were intact, stock plastic. I found the reason the keys had come out to be that the Springs on the Sliders were installed incorrectly.
Also there was enough RTV in the Tranny to seal 6 of them with..RTV was everywhere..
The Input Shaft was loose as hell too..it was improperly shimmed.

I found Carbon Fiber Synchros in the Tranny aswell, suprisingly they are still good so I'm holding on to them as a backup.

My friend ordered the Tick stage II Kit and I'm rebuilding it with that, and a new 3rd Gear cause it's trashed.

This T56 was bought from a member on LS1Tech and said to be in "good working order" I'm going to get into contact with him and find out who built this epic fail.

Be careful what you buy guys..

I'll get you that pic to Daryn.. we've been busy with this mess..

Here is a closer pic of the Pedals.. I can't really get up in there to get a direct shot, there is too much in the way.
