Default Manual switch for converter lock up?

After burning the lock up clutches in a brand new converter I've been thinking about a switch. All the tranny guys are telling me that a high stall coverter with big HP is too much for the clutches. Wonder if it's possible to have a manual switch to prevent lock up at the strip or whenever you want to lean on it and then under normal driving have it work like it should. Next thing is would it throw a code? Anyone done this?....is it possible?

You could setup your tune to do that exact thing with the tow haul button.... Have your tuner look into that....

Yep, you should also be able to just tune it not to lock at WOT no matter what, so when your driving easy its fine but under wot it wont lock up.

Wouldnt be bad to look into a different converter though, theres people making decent power and locking them at wot. One truck Hellbents10 built and tunes locks the converter right after the 2-3 shift, that thing makes 650 to the tires on the street tune.
