Max Engine Rpm For Flt 4l65e L-5?

Question Max Engine Rpm For Flt 4l65e L-5?

Is there such a thing as a max engine rpm that shold never be exceed with my FLT 4L65E L-5 or any transmission for that matter?

I dont think you will have to worry about that... guys are spinning these things to 7K with no problems at all... I know oil starvation in the planetaries has been a concern of some though... mine sees 6800 with no problems yet...

depedns where your making peak torque at , it its at 5k rpms there isnt much point to spin it to 7k.

Not sure about the FLT transmission but I have read in several places, including a couple of GM spec sheets that the maximum recommended shift rpm for a 4l65 is 7000 with a sustained rpm limit of 6000. I assume the limits are based on lubrication requirements but again am not 100% sure.

yes if you run it too fast the parts cannot lubricate adequitely fast enough... but i dont see any application going past 7000 rpm that wouldnt blast a 4l60e into oblivion to begin with

I believe the 6L80E has the same rpm restriction so it probably won't show up behind the LS7 or yet to be officially named Blue Devil/SS/ZR1 any time soon.

Cool I like that name much better then Blue Devil and definitely better than SS for a Corvette. Where did you find that info? I am definitely interested in reading up on the latest info.
