Exclamation Much closer to the 4WD 4L80E swap!

After searching the numerous posts on this subject and not finding any firm answers, I finally jumped under the truck and opened up my Helms manual to try get things straight.

My 2000 Helms only lists 2 Transfer cases; the Two speed Automatic (NP8) and Two Speed Manual, so I figured these things had to be interchangable among the motors. Well low and behold, my 1500's NVG-NP8 behind the 4L60E also fits behind the 4L80E! There are different length adapters to compensate for the difference in transmission lengths. This may very well be old news, but I'm stoked since I don't need to worry about custom transfer case wiring and such. Now what is that damn adapter's P/N?

I hope this helps out the fellow 4WD guys. Too bad There are no answeres to the SS's AWD dilema.

I was just wondering about that after browsing Speed Engineering's 4L80E 4WD conversion page. You would think there would be different transfer case designations for the different input shafts.

Wow! That looks like you had to take the t-case completely apart to swap out that gear. How hard was it to do? What sorts of special tools, etc. were required?

A good pair of snap ring pliers is about it.

I can't find the paper with the part # of the input shaft, I will keep looking.

I have that input gear in stock on the shelf if you still need one or call me if you just need the part number.

No with the longer 4l80e, I had to get a short rear drive shaft and a longer front.

Does the part number- 19019 Ring a bell for the input shaft, FLT? I found my invoice but I don't think this is the right number.
