My 2WD has torsion bars...?

You sir have a Spring Special. In California they were also referred to as the California Edition. That was the only way you could get indigo Metallic blue in that year.
They were all made in Canada and all were set on 4x4 style frames with torsion bar fronts even though they are 2WD trucks.
I have seen different color options on the Chevy's but not the GMC's for the Spring package. The different color option may also only be in 05.
The Spring Special package was only available 2 years. 04-05
You were correct about the drums in 05.
Only the 2WD VHO and the SSS got the 14 bolt rear ends starting in 05
The VHO package was available for GMC's, how ever the VHO package came with the 6.0 LQ9
As far as the rims they were common between the VHO and the Spring Special but they could be ordered on any Truck or SUV at the time. The dealer could also order them separate and install them as well.
I have the correct information on the VHO production numbers and have posted else were but I have not done much research on the Spring Edition trucks's to get production numbers. I would need a Vin from both years to research production numbers.
Here is the VHO truck production numbers.
2004 GMC with B4V option=622 ??? Only comes back with 620 color matches
2005 GMC with B4V option=2050
2004 Chevy with B4V option=1,938
2005 Chevy with B4V option=4,701 -This is split between VHO and 2WD SS
So in 2005 3,063 True VHO's and 1,638 2WD SS's
I have the Break down by color as well for the VHO trucks

I bought the same truck as the original poster except mine is an 05' GMC and is black. Standard 1/2 ton rear, drum brakes, 3.73 gears. Got it with 48 miles on it off the lot. Tried changing a bad caliper recently and could t find a match so something changed there as well. Tried all sorts of combinations I could think of but nothing. Same with the shocks. Got some off a 4WD and although they fit, they are about an inch shorter in length. Would like to get some OEM part numbers to cross reference from.
