Default My Built Trans feels...stockish???

I will leave the builder out to avoid a flame thread starting, this is more of a "whats my trans doing" thread. When I first got the trans, the 1-2 shift was firm at all throttle inputs. The 2-3 was a bit lighter and the 3-4 was smooth. Now, and not all the time, but more often than not, the 1-2 is slow and mushy!!! The 2-3 is not the same either. 3-4 is still smooth. Other than that, there is no indication that something is wrong with the trans. A few facts...

3000 Billet stall
20K on trans
Fluid is fine
used, but not abused

Can someone maybe help me out with what could be the potential cause of this, because its making me a little nervous that my built trans feels worse than a stock one.

Have you serviced the trans (new filter) since you installed it? I know its a good idea to do so after a few thousand miles to get all of the break in shtuff out of there.

This brings up a point, I know you said nothing has been changed in your tune lately, but before you had the trans built did you still have the torque management left in the tune? I would imagine you did and if it is still there with the built unit, I would imagine the adaptive learning is softening up the shifts. It may not be your only issue, but it does have an effect on them.

It "could" be in the tune... There are several tables that adjust the shift pressures based on tranny temp... since winter is approaching the tranny "could" be running cooler, thus causing the softer shift... It is a remote possiblity, but it is not unheard of...

First I would contact your builder to let them know what is going on here. They might ask you to do some tests or ask to see your tune. My suggestion would be to drop the pan and do a visual inspection. If the pan shows signs of more debris than normal you know what the next step will be. Also at this point you should be able to see if your band is on the loose side or if it is burned up some. I hope you get things straightened out. Vince

Adaptive learning needs to be disabled on a performnace/built trans per Mr. Charlie Wheatly!
