Default Is my driveshaft length ok?

I have a 2000 4wd silverado 1500. I am in the process of converting to a 4l80E and wanted to know if my driveshaft length is ok. If I unbolt it, there is about 3/4" of play before it hits the t-case. I hope it's not too long. Thanks.

there should be 1 inch of slip. those slips are fairly long so 1 1/4 inch will be no problem. you can take it to your local driveline shop with the mearsurement, and they should beable to take care of you. measure seal of tranny not that rubber boot to the center of the rear u-joint(which will be the flats of the pinion yoke).

I would not run it like that. You will be looking for a new transmission tail shaft if you do.

yea, I'd say 1-1.5" shorter. I've seen some bad damage due to a driveshaft like that.
