Angry My Truck Is Slower Now...

I put 4:10 gears it my truck a long time ago.... Its faster off the line but, in the quarter it only pulls a 15.08 at 88mph... Before I could pull mid 14's at 90+ all day long with 3:73's... I run Billet 16's with 255/70 R16 yoko's both times....WTF?

I've heard of this complaint from alot of stock motor guys...interested in what the gear heads think about this. Stock motor just doesn't have the *** for the lower gearing in the upper rpm areas? Do you have a custom tune?

Yup.. That tune made my truck scream but, now it is slower... also my truck had a n 80mm bbk throttle body but it got stolen..(long story).. Now I have a stock throttle body thats been ported.... Would that make a difference? Should I go back to 3:73's as well?

I am not knowledgeable enough on this topic to say what to do, but something sounds weird. I just can't imagine you losing so much time on 3.73 to 4.10's. Somebody should chime in that would know better....I mean you shouldn't be slower IMO. I am not. But I got more than intake and and a tune.

I dont get it either when you install 4.10 gears the truck is suposed to lose some mph but gain e/t maybe with the 4.10s your gettin more traction issues. Or maybe the 4.8 likes the 3.73s better.

To tell you the truth... Dont remember... Its been so long since I ran it but... I raced My friend with D-max 3500 4x4 with edge chip, intake, and exhaust.. Before I could get him by a truck length..(single cab length).. We would be pretty even off the line but as soon as I got into second... I started to pull.. Now I can get him off the line but as soon as he gets into second he starts to pull and by the end of the run... the front of my truck is in the middle of his bed..

Could it be my little 4.8l works better with the 3:73's?

imo it's possible that you are simply running out of gear. the motor can't pull the rpm's that it needs at the top of the track. just spray it and then you'll be fine.....

You do have a point.... Nos would be nice.. but so would a 233 .581 114lsa cam.. But I dont want to keep the 4:10's if after all the mods, it could be faster with the 3:73's...
