My truck is SO much slower with 4l80
God, i can't get over how shitty 1st gear is, i went to the races the other night, .3 slower than previous setup. i almost went the entire 1/8 mile in first gear, it's so long and slow to rev. I know it's the tranny and the non locking tc and all that plays a part. On the freeway it's way better than the 60 though, i get to 100mph in 2nd gear, and the downshifting rpm is much higher and it's fantastic when moving, it's from a stand still it just sucks. I mean i'm back to stock times or damn close to it, at least in the 1/8, in the 1/4 i bet i'm better. It just sucks cause i raced a guy with a lifted silverado with 33's or 35's, i'm sure he just had a programmer and cat back, and i have every frickin bolt on and gobs and gobs of money into this thing, only to barely beat a virtually stock silverado lifted. I smoked those guys before. Let me know your input, i know that my tranny and converter setup are kinda made for a more powerful setup than mine, but still. I am going supercharged hopefully in the next 6 months, cause it's killin me right now.

isn't the 1st gear in an 80E the same as in a TH400? I would probably look at rear gear and converter selections. Not to mention you just need more POWA to move that thing... When I switched over to a TH400 in my fbody it felt like the car lost 50hp down low, but that bitch would hit hard rolling. Transbrake was fun too!

no, i expected it to be like that, just sucks for now that's all. I love the whole setup except for 1st gear. I have been planning on SC'ing it from day 1, and that's what i'm gonna do, just my 60 breaking wasn't expected and the 80 swap and converter cost a lot so it will be a little bit on the SC. Just wanted to get a few opinions on this topic is all, thanks.

main problem is there's not enough power in your motor. pretend like you have 50hp less... If you are DEFINITELY planning bigger though, you might as well keep it. It would be fun though to have some 4.56 rear gears too.
