Rossler is the only one with a T-brake for an 80E that keeps the electronics and he's proud of it too. Patent pending and a price to match.

I would have thought that a 3200 stall would make up for the **** 1st gear. Is it real tight, does it actually stall to 3200? Maybe a little more stall would help. Just an idea. Fuddle claims my truck would jump out the hole with a 3200. (comparing to my stock converter of course)

no, it locks up in late 3rd and 4th, i love the converter with the less rpm drop. It brake stalls at 2600/2700, i thought it would brake stall at 3200 but Dave said there's a difference between brake and flash stall. It does not jump out of the whole, it barely chirps my tires, of course i have 22's with 10" wide nittos. I thought it would make up for 1st gear as well, but not quite obviously.

My stock 4l80 converter Brake stalls to 2600 and flashes a little higher than that. I also can do a little better than a chirp when flashed and can roll them over pretty good with a brake stall. Sounds like your converter is much tighter than needed. I would want mine to brake stall higher than a factory TC.

I think a big shot of nitrous or supercharger would change your opinion of the 4L80E,a shorter than stock tire will help some. The 2.75 low gear planetaries will not work in a late model 4L80E,unless you go full manual.I ran 4.56gears for a while, they help with the launch, but kill fuel economy,4.10s are a more realistic option. The only real solution is to make enough torque to overcome the tall first gear, mine will light the tires from a 30mph punch and the closer gear ratios actually help after first gear.

I might go 4.10's just because i have 3.73's and it' not that big a jump. I know, sc is the only solution for me and that's what i want to do. I know everyone said the stock converter stalled at 2600, but i didn't think it would brake stall that high. I would have had to buy a torque converter anyway, i don't know how much a stock one would have been. But i know a stocker wouldn't have the rpm drop that the Yank has, it is very awesome i must say. The only way to overcome the 1st gear is FI and that's just it.
