Without the segment swap the truck should be shifting backwards ( with the forward gears ) so u might need to manually select 3rd with OD off and LIGHTLY push the throttle( if u push it hard it will keep it in low gear, but it should move around in reverse no problem =)
Ive done a couple segment swaps on cars that didnt actually have 4L80s ( had 60s ) and that is how they ran. Other than that, no experience in running one without a seg swap.
Not recommending it but if u need to move it around a little.

Is there any way to adjust the shifter cable? I moved the truck 6" or so othe lift just to make sure all worked before I madea big move and when I put it back in park the display showed reverse. So I got the wife up there and with the key on and not running, got her to cycle it through the gears while trying to adjust the PNP switch to see if it was that. That changed nothing but I did find out that after going to first and back to park, the lever wasn't all the way in park. I could still move the lever the last 1/8" by hand then it registered it was in park.

I went ahead and put in the relays until the waterproof ones come in then i'll swap them out. I fired it up and went for a drive around the street and the code 1860 came on and it seems like its starting out in 2nd? Not sure as i'm not familiar with the 4l80 gearing but it did seem sluggish trying to go. What I have done is at the trans connector I removed pin S(white) and pin U(brown) and put the brown wire into pin S.
I added the second VSS and put them into pins 22+23. Then at the PCM i put a 4 pin relay with pins 30, 85, 86, and 87 on it. Wire it like the following:
Pin 85 – wire that goes to pin C2-42(tan/black)
Pin 86 – 12V+
Pin 30 – PCM side of the wire now going into pin C2-2(brown)
Pin 87 – Transmission side of the wire now going into pin C2-2(brown)
Now we need to reverse the action of shift solenoid
B. You will need a 5 pin Bosch-style relay that has
the following pins:
30, 85, 86, 87, 87a. Wire like the following:
Pin 85 – PCM side of the wire for Pin C2 – 47(yellow/black)
Pin 87a – Transmission side for wire going to Pin C2 - 47(yellow/black)
Pin 30 – Good ground
Pin 86 – 12V+
Pin 70 – Not used.
Now you need to disable codes P0785 (3-2 Solenoid Circuit) and P1870 (Trans Component Slipping) in the tune, otherwise it will not act properly and throw a code.

Got the segment swap in but it still feels like its trying to take off in 2/3? The only code I have now is p0740 - torque converter clutch circuit malfunction. This is the first time for this code. I removed all the relays I tried to get it to work and connected all wires that I cut. Not sure if it has something to do with that or not. Is there any specific wires that goto that circuit? When I did the internal wiring harness swap, I made sure to connect all the wires.
