I talked to someone that said they would put my parts in for 500.00 since I have everything needed for the rebuild, but that sounds high to me. Any thoughts? Any advise, comments, or info PLEASE

That's to put my parts in my case only. I've already pulled trans & will re-install myself...talked to another shop and they want 750.00 This is going in the wrong direction! Plus the "$500 guy" said he has never seen anything but stock...nothing like what I have!

im guessing okc as your location is Oklahoma city? There has to be a very good reputable tranmission shop in that area. Here are some i got from google:

Ive been checking for 2 weeks local and only 3 responses...500, 750, and 725. The guy for 500 works in his garage, the other 2 are shops. Still think it should be cheaper.

Why? That is a good price imho. To build a quality transmission, I would expect it to take at least 8 hours (it would take me several days). say their hourly rate is 65 thats 520.

From experience of blowing up 60e's on a relatively stock truck, you don't want to cheap out. I've killed 3 shop (2 different shops) built transmissions, and 3 self built transmissions. The self built ones lasted longer then the shop built transmissions. I now feel there is something wrong with the case I was using.

I am researching and gathering parts for a new build, i'll have over 2k in parts by the time im done. I am a DIY guy, many people see me wasting money, but I rather learn. I did one in my friends trucks not long ago (he kept killing a shop built one - 3-4 clutches), and hes been towing several times a week in with it in OD without issues, and even I charged him more then 500 labor and I am not a professional, just someone who has been absorbing the dos and donts of 4l60e's.

When i took my parts to him he didn't reconize some of the upgraded pieces...made me feel a little nervous. My parts list minus converter is over $1600 plus $725 for my converter. I want someone who has done hi-per. builds before. $725 and up out of 5 local shops willing to do it. By the way, this will be 3rd build. 1st stock...2nd h.d. towing(ha-ha)...now 3rd. If this goes i guess do 4l80?

sell the parts and get a performabuilt 60e that will hold up? Then swap the trans in yourself?
