Default Need Help with Drag Radials

Alright guys, im not sure im posting this in the right section but i need help picking a size for a drag radial.

I am looking at one of two sizes. 275/40/17 M/T or a 275/50/17 M&H. The M/T is a 26" and the M&H is a 28".

Here is my current setup.

lq9 6.0, Radix 8psi, dynatechs, corsa, and tuned. I am running a 4l80e with a VIG 26-2800 stall. My gears are stock 373s. Which tire should i choose and why?

Edit.....my max power on the dyno was at like 5100rpm.

get the 28"ers.... you have plenty of torque to turn them with the radix and stall

The taller the tire, the greater the contact patch upon launch.

my 26" M/T's could not handle my cammed 6.0 n/a... so Im pretty sure it wont handle your radixd 6.0 either..... that's why I sold my 26's and going with some 28" Hoosier's...

Not sure what you are running for a trans but i have an 80e, and the gearing is much less with that compared to a stock 60. Thats the only reason im even considering the 26.

yeah, the 26's would be better for the gearing w/ the 80e but i don't think they will handle the power. too bad they don't make a 28" tall m/t drag radial.

I have the 255-50-R16's. If you were a little closer,(I'm in Pgh,PA) you could try em. I got quite a bit more mph, due to getting into high sooner. I haven't had time to fool with them this year, though.

I dont think handling the power should be an issue. My buddy has 26" DRs on a 05 mustang that made about 470 ft lb on nitrous.

Im torn and I need to order by today or tommorow at the latest. Anyone know a good place to get the M&H if i decide togo that route?

i understand what you are saying about the mustang. but you must remember this is a truck with a very light rear. w/ a car you have a better weight to weight ratio. just take a look at ap's experiences.
