Default need help dropping 2009 silverado!

got a buddy wanting to just even out his truck. He has a 09 CC silverado. I think these trucks sit up higher in the back then the 06 and older years did. Is it true that for the truck to sit level he should use a 3" drop shackle or will a 2" do? Also if it does have to be a 3", i found these belltech shackles but it mentions something about shackle bolts have to be cut off or something and also mentions factory blocks have to be removed. anybody know if these steps are necessary or not? thanks fellas

heres the link to them

Belltech or Ground force drop shackles about $60. The only cutting or notching is the bed weld on a seem abve the rear shackles. About 1in long. Jack truck up allow rear end to hang, undo rear shocks from rear end. Unbolt old shackles and install new. Read instructions and do what they say and it drops about 2 to 3 in in rear and levels the truck out.

If it has lift blocks, I would take those out before anything else is changed.
