The aftermarket Eaton LSD has almost nothing in common with the G80 locker that comes stock in GM trucks. I have personally seen the Eaton LSD work exactly how it should after some pretty impressive abuse. I have also seen an Aurburn LSD unlock at the worst situation in a couple of vehicles. That being said I havent heard alot of good things about the Auburn but have heard plenty of good things about the Eaton.

Eaton makes the Govlock which GM uses under RPO G80, this is a locking rear diferential. The Eaton Carbon is an LSD(limited slip diferential) when cornering the clutch packs slip in a limited fashion. Can be had in 200, 400 or 800 lb preloads. The carbon fiber cltches are not available with the 800 lb preload option.

How does the Auburn unit compare to the eaton LSD?

I've had my aftermarket Eaton for over a year now and never had an incident.
Doughnuts, powerslides, corner slides, 4WD launchs...no problems yet.

If Eaton owns Tractech then you are correct.
