so i picked up a different 14 bolt, this time from a 4x4. i scored big time with this one. it has 4.10s and some form of lsd or something like that. anybody know what it is?

Looking closer at your pics, specifically the 2nd one, the side & spider gears look a little galled. I'd consider building the axle before installing it.

In my opinion, it depends on the driver and what you're doing with the truck. But if your side & spider gears are galling, it's already junk.

One wheel peel, abuse basically. I'd bet the clutches are also worn out.

If you wanna re-use the gear set, Check the pattern and measure the backlash before teardown. Then set it up exactly the same when you go back together.
