Default Need Help With Rear Hangers! Belltech Vs. DJM

Hey Guys,

I ordered Belltech part number: 6512 which is a hanger/shackle kit for my 2006 GMC 1500 RCSB to lower it 4". In the instructions it has you installing a 3 degree pinion shim on the axle pads along with the shackles/hangers.

I looked at the same 4" shackle/hanger kit with DJM which is kit part number: HS2599-4 and in it's instructions there is NO pinion shim included.

So my question is.... Is a pinion shim that vitally necessary to lowering the rear of the truck 4"? What is the purpose of it if the Belltech kit has one and the DJM kit does not? (I know the purpose is to correct the drive shaft angle for proper u-joint alignment and no vibration) but, is it actually needed?

Thanks Guys!

Matt

I would go with belltech, I have had DJM and they quiality isnt all the way there. You get what you pay for.

Thought you were referring to a flip kit. Shackle/hangers I would think should keep the pinion at the same angle, just measure you working angles and add the shim as necessary.

I needed a 6º on my RCLB when I used the DJM rear hangers and shackles.

Personally I thought the DJM parts where very good quality, the finish was nice and I had no issues with install. I just have to measure my angles and correct them afterwards.

I just don't see you being able to NOT need a shim when you are done. The pinion angle is going to change alot when you drop 4in in the rear.

My bad, I thought he was referring to a flip kit for some reason. I'll fix my post.
