What does it mean if it's loose or tight?
What does "it flashes @ xxxx rpm" mean?

From what I read I guess if I want a little better performance with little or no MPG hit and daily drivability with occasional light to medium towing I want a 2800?

My truck specs in the sig.

Thanks
rocker, here are some links to basic information about how some of the modifications are made and there effects.

Here are the results of some controlled tests that we did to better understand some of the variables when modifying converters.

Thanks Greg, And the others,

Looks like I'm not going to bother with it at this point.

Therock, if you want to meet up you can drive my GMC, it has a PI Vigilante 2600 stall and will give you a good idea of what your truck would feel like with a converter.

Thanks, I would love an excuse to go to your bar. Do you ever get to the north Atlanta area?

Question.
I do lots of wildlife photography that takes me off road. At times I need to bump and crawl over logs and ruts and negotiate steep hills.

What kind of difference difference would a 2600 like yours make in these situations? Is yours a tight or loose converter?

You don't want a stall for climbing.
My Circle D 3000 is tight and it'll easily roll backwards on a slight incline if not on the throttle or brake

i read that link but it still did not answer the questions above about loose or tight stall. I went with a TVS 2800 paid twice as much of the circle D. I am all stock but the stall does make the tranny temps higher and I have to add a cooler. You might want to budget a cooler in and a tune weather its a update or new tune. might want to add a shift kit and servos if not done yet. I did not look at your mods.

Thanks, I have an all Sonnax kit build with both their servos that works fantastic. I also have the OE trans cooler but could add to it.

Right now I am trying to get the feel of how a 2600 would behave in off road put putting.

I don't suppose anything less than a 2600 would be worth the trouble?

Loosenes of tightness on a converter doesn't necessarily have to do with how low/high a converter is. A 2800 converter can be looser than a 3200. Normally you want a tigher converter for nitrous applications and a loose one for N/A. How loose or tight a converter is varies and also acts different on heavier vehicles, usually feels looser. I know with PI you can specify but it's always a hit and miss, same as stall size, some stall/flash higher than others even being the same size and some don't stall or flash as high as rated. I know for a fact a 9.5" is looser and flasher higher than 10.0" converters.
