Grinding the calipers is easy. I was hesitant at first, but after seeing how many f-bodies have it done, I decided to go that route. You could puts slicks on the back and run in 2wd. That would keep 4wd from eating up so much horsepower. I'm convinced the 4wd is what is keeping Parish out of the single digits.

I'm really not sure drag radials will hold in just the rear.

What is the wides tire I could fit under the truck?

I run a 10 1/2 inch M/t slick. BMdmax uses a 10 1/2 inch slick on his 2wd Duramax. His truck weighs 7200 lbs and they hook for him. Look at how much power the 10.5 outlaw guys make and they work for them. I'm sure you could go wider, but I don't think its necessary.

Their is always some way to make your traction better. I know you can get a 28x12x16 slick. jus tneed 10+" wheel for that. You will clear that under your fender. Once you use that in 2wd and if you spinning you can try track bite or caltracs or just a little diff launching techniques.

I think Turboberseker was in a similiar predicament with his power and hooking. He decided to go 2wd and worry about gettin ghte ttruck to hook with enough tire and suspension work.

I would realy rather use the 4wd rather than spend money on caltracs or other traction aid.
Parish8 tires are 304 45 18. that is almost 29 inches high. hmmm
I wonder how high I could safly spin the LQ4 up? 6200 rpm?

Extend your shifts in the other gears too to help you out, from what I have read you are just thinkin of moving the 3-4 out a bit.

I don't know how high you can spin the 6.0, but I was shifting the old stock 5.3 at 6800 rpm.

i'm running the 275-50-17 M&H Racemsters on 17x10 welds only downfall is they are too narrow. M&H also has a 325-40-17 and a huge 390-40-17. The 390-40-17 are the tallest at 29.5" tall BUT they require a 12" wide rim. A buddy of mine in TX ran the 390's on his reg cab Ram and pulled a best 60' of 1.74
