I wouldn't be so quick to say it's not cracked... especially if it's a STOCK piston. The 1-2 accumulator pistons were changed to plastic ones years ago (in the name of "value engineering"). The plastic ones are known to crack at the bore. This'll lead to seapage of fluid, resulting in loss of pressure, which ends up yielding softer (or hanging) shifts.
