Question Need torque spec for lug nuts

Hi guys,

I have a 2006 Silverado 2WD Vortec Max Crew Cab and need to know what the torque specs are for the lug nuts. I tried seaching but didn't find anything.

I was thinking 100 ft/lbs but I recently had Sams club do a rotate for me and they say its 140 ft/lbs.

Thanks in advance....

Bill

Not to be a smart *** but run them on with a impact, it will be fine.. Last I checked my wheels was on with 100-10 or so.. I think 140 is what they are in the book... What if you get a flat, your not breaking 140 with the skinmpy bar in the jack kit, at least most people..

On the stockers I'd probably stay close to 140 ft/lbs. I torque mine to 125.

No criticism here, but I am surprised to hear the breaker bar stuff - a decent 1/2" drive torque wrench is a relatively inexpensive and very worthy investment.

Torque spec from the manual is 140 lb/ft. I also torque mine to 125 lb/ft. I run them up with an impact and then torque to spec.

actually man, i would be CAREFUL torquing them to that spec, being yours is an 06. the rotor material was changed in 06-07 classic trucks. i torqued mine to about 120 ft/lbs or so, and warped them. WTF?? i was very upset, but the dealer removed them and turned them for free.

they told me that the material on the rotors was some cheap *** composite type metal for the 07 classic, it may have just been shitty on my WT model, but i would still be careful.

to the best of my memory, he quoted the manual as saying around 90 ft/lbs for my truck. it was right around that though, WAY less than 125 or 140.

like i say, yours may have a better rotor being it is a vortec max LS or LT model, just be careful and call your local dealer for the spec on it before you warp it.

x2 use an impact when i take it to the tire shop and use a breaker when I do it myself. That's how my Grandpa did it on his drag cars and that's how my dad does it, that's how I do it. Only problem we've ever ran into was trying to get the damn things back off.

I've never seen anyone actually use a Torque Wrench on lug nuts. Only time we need one of those is working on heads or a tractor.

Then u never saw me do lug nuts. I've always tq'ed em. Either that or run em up close w/ impact, then finish torqing as Roger said. I'm kinda surprised by the love u guys lavish on your trucks but impact lugs on. But then again, I've never warped any rotors. I'll admit it takes longer. $ has been tight, but I really should just buy a tq stick & impact em. I'll buy 1 of these days.
