Default New body style lowering question

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has lowered an 07-08 truck using the stock wheels?
I have a 07 tahoe that i want to lower with a 2/3 drop and am not ready to buy new wheels yet, so im lowering on the stock 17s.
Anyone had any trouble?
Thanks alot.

You've got some options up front - springs or spindles. I went with springs, only because I wanted a mild drop this time around. If you go with 2" springs you'll also need to install shims so the alignment can be performed within spec. If you decide to go with spindles, pick carefully. Belltech spindles, for example, should bolt up with no effect on wheel choice. McGaughy ones, on the other hand, will likely require some lower control arm bolt trimming in order to fit the 17's. They'll also have more of an effect on turning radius.

Out back you're obviously looking at springs. I'd also recommend shock extenders and shorter bump stops. If you have the AutoRide system, you'll also need shorter sensor rods.

Belltech sells a complete kit w/ spindles & springs, and I can't recommend it highly enough. I ran a McGaughy setup on my old '03. No real complaints, but in my experience the ride quality from Belltech rear springs is much better. Good luck...

I used the Mcgaugheys (sp) 5/7 drop, front = springs and spindles, rear = 7" flip). I had no issues running my stock 245/70/17's.

Just lowered my '08 w/ a 2/4 drop. I have 20" wheels though with a 55 series tire so I am sure yours would be quite a different situation w/ 17's. I don't think you would have a problem if you are planning for only a 2/3 drop though. Mine works great.
