New gear and stall set, looking for your opinion
I have a 02 scsb with a LQ9 with a 230/236 591/601 @110, edelbrock ls xt pro flo intake, 90mm tb, patriot ls6 stage 2 64cc 2.02/1.57 heads. The tranny is a 4l80e with a trans go hd2 (street edege 4000 will be here next week) and I am looking to put the 4.10 gears in this weekend. I am looking on opinions on the 4000 stall with 4.10 gears. I have 3.73's now but before my trap speed seemed low and I was not using enough of 3rd gear when crossing the traps. The intake is new to the set up so I am looking at running my shift points higher but just wondering how well the gears will work with the set up?

I'd say at least 4.10s.... If you don't care about streetability (which I know you don't) maybe even some 4.30s IMO.... From 3.73s, the next big jump is the .30's... You'll notice a difference with the 4.10's but probably not a whole lot honestly, esp with the bigger converter going in.

well my PI was flashing over 4000 with my set up, I wish I would have got the 4.30's but it looks like the 4.10 will do for now. I ordered my converter today and he told me it will ship out friday or monday.

It takes big stalls to make these heavy trucks run good 60's n/a or nitrous. F/I trucks need less stall speed. You need at least a 3500 with 3.73 or 4.10's to get them to lauch good 60's. (good 60's= good et) 3000 with 4.10= low 1.8x high 1.7x or 3500 and higher with 4.10=1.6 -1.7 60's. There is no reason why not to run a bigger stall n/a unless your happy with slower et's! You could run a small stall as long as you have a s/c or turbo!

my 3800 would flash to 4200 or so and it was fine for daily driving I have alway run a 3500 plus since I had the 4.8 with out a single issue. There are a few guys here running 4000 + stalls and daily driving, but as eairly stated this truck of mine is not daily driven. My 06 is my daily driven truck, the 02 will see more track than road.

I DD'd a 3600 Yank behind a turbo setup with 3.73s that flashed close to 5K.... And drove every day just fine...
Its all perception and what your personal taste is, I'd have no problem driving a 4000+ converter every day....
