Default new shocks/ questions about the old

as to removing the old shocks. i cant find my haynes manual. it looks pretty straightforward. i undid the bottom two bolts, easy enough,... i get to the top nut, give it a turn, and the whole shaft spins. above the threads its squared off, well i put a tiny wrench on it and just rounded off.now i have a pipe wrench on the shaft, and im now able to turn the nut. soaking it in wd40, should have done this before hand, i know.heres the questions, the shock should just slide out from the bottom, right? do i have to worry about the coil? im sure there will be more to come. i thought this was gonna be easy any responses appreciated.

It will just drop out of the bottom. Vice grips work good for holding it in place, and wd40 helps with the dirty threads. Doing the top first with the a arm jacked up will releive the pressure off of it and make it easier, then drop the two bottom bolts. The coil will not fall out. Its a simple job.

undo the top first, impact wrench makes it really easy.
