bought 3' of 3/8 all-thread and 8 nuts...used some scrap strap metal around the shop. made 4 clamps. 2 for each spring, front and back

Haha I Love Working At A Dealer.... Get Car Washed For Free.... Not To Mention Make Friends With Techs... And Lubes... Oil And Filter Change All Free.... God Im Gonna Get Lazy Workin Here...

LOL, you said it but not me.

Basically with 2 spring clamps, you're basically using your overload leaf meant for towing as fully active part of your suspension. That leaf is 2x as thick and 2x as stiff as the other leafs so your ride should be terrible. I'm surprised it's bearable.

Hell if it works for you though, who the hell am I to say anything.
