Default nitrous on a stock 4l60e

I am going to put a 75 shot on my 97 Chevy silverado. It has the stock trans. I am only going to spray 3rd gear. My first and second pulls good enough. I shift it through the gears when I do race. I might go to the track twice ever six months or so. Will I ne ok.

I don't think its good to manually. Shift the Trans but simple mods will help your Trans last like vette servos and billet od. Servos and hd2 shift kits

My trans is virtually stock and i have been spraying for quite some time now(100shot). I manually shift as well to keep the trans from kicking down a gear while spraying. Seems to work just fine

if the trans is already in 3rd and you spray a 75 hit you should be ok for a good while.

If you wanted to do a little upgrade with the trans in the truck you can install a vette servo easily, and if you wanted to drop the pan and valve body you could drill 3rd gear feet hole to .093 for a slightly better 2-3 shift.

Kick downs, hole shots( big verters) heat is the main culp's in killing a tranny. But the 3rd-4th are not as strong( less holding power-clutches) then 1st-2nd.. It will last for a little bit, but not long.. Slap a good shift kit in it, servo trany cooler ect..

Cross your fingers and hit the button... It could hold thru the first 1/2 pull... Or you may get 100 bottles thru it. Roll the dice...

I've ran my 75 shot through my stock 60e with a vette servo. Probably 2 bottles worth. I try to not spray through the shifts though

If anything, spray thru the shift. The loading, unloading, shift, then another jolt is harder on parts than just adding the power and letting the trans do it's thing.
