Default No 1st, no OD, not starting in N

This is kinda wierd the truck won't shift into 1st gear or OD (not even when Wheatley commanded it to).

Also, the truck no longer starts in neutral. I have to put the truck in park.

Where should I start looking. I have some things to check out after work. Check to see if MAF is soiled, check how the truck holds second gear manually, and double-check the linkage.

Any other ideas? Cluster?

The wont start in neutral could be a fauly or misajusted PRNDL switch. However the no 1st and 4th would indicate a faulty 1-2 (shift solenoid A) Issue. It is on in both first and 4th you would only have 2nd and 3rd gears if it failed.

How would I go about checking/fixing that?

The transmission is a Performabuilt unit. I bought it in early April 2007.

Well the prndle switch is the black thing you put on the side when you installed at the linkage shaft. I would address it first, You will likley need to purchase a new one, I would deal with it then clear codes and try again, Since it could of itself cause issue with shifts by telling the PCM the wrong gear position, Then if that didnt take care of it give me a yell and Ill send you a 1-2 shift solenoid (A) Solenoid, One of those two items is really all it can be, Now if the shift issue occurred at the same time as the no start in neutral then the PRNDLE in increased in likleyhood as the cause.
Keep me posted but in either case sounds like a simple electrical failure.

I appreciate the help. I remember that little black box, it was a bitch to get off the shaft. I kind of tapped it off (and by tap I mean hard tap).

many also call it a park neutral safety switch, and they're like $51 at autozone.

I got a Duralast one at AutoZone for $31 + tax IIRC... I'm going to switch it out today after work and hopefully have a 4spd tranny again lol...
