Default no third no forth sometimes nothing at all

well we dropped a 383 ls1 into a 97 gmc truck. has a "built" 4l60e behind it. today he lost 4th gear all the way won't go in it at all. at one point all the gears were out including reverse. he shut it off for a few, started it back up and all gears were there again. then later on he lost 3rd along with forth.

also since we installed it if the torque converter locks the whole truck shake very badly. so i had to program it to stay unlocked. what could this be? just bad pressure?

Is it a new trans or was it working fine behind a different engine?

The vibration may be converter clutch failure and the other syptoms related causing a trans failure but no way to be sure short of tearing it all down and looking, But thats certainly next on the agenda I would say

the converter is also new. we called the guy who made it and he said it was the trans. i put full line pressure to the tcc and it still pulsed really bad. i turned it off in fear of harming the motor thats how bad it was.

I still tend to think the converter is the primary issue, Pull the pan and see just whats in there.

If the filter clogs up with debris you can loose everything though ussually after it sets and drains back through a little its will come back for a short time
