Default OE 80E flexplate and spacer questions

1. What is the thickness of the GM 80E flexplate material? My 60E plate looks like its about .130"/3.25mm

2. How far does the crank spacer protrude through the flexplate?

TIA

I cant remember off the top of my head, but here are some pictures of a broken old style and the new style OEM 80e flexplates.

The new style one comes with bolts and spacer from GM. Paid about $60 for it. GM p/n 12621399

Thanks for the pics. I am looking at a custom billet plate and was wondering what design mods to the LS1 billet plate would be required, other than the converter bolt pattern (6 on 11.5"). http://www.meziere.com/ps-109-1397-fp319.aspx

I was thinking that a Meziere FP 319 plate could just be built with the converter side left flat and the center hole sized for the converter snout. Now that I see that the stock spacer extends through the plate, I'm not sure that the plate would engage enough of the converter snout.

Any alternative that uses a spacer on either side of the plate would require either milling the center of a plate down to .130"(stock thickness) which would be counter-productive, or cutting down the spacer.

Do you already have a converter? If not, just have the converter made to bolt up to your 60e flexplate.

I have a PI like that. Thought I would add as much beef as possible while I have the trans out. I ordered a new 11" Yank that uses all 6 bolts.

Anybody know the overall height and diameter of the crank spacer?

Any problem with using an LS1(60E) style plate with a GM spacer after the plate to engage the 80E converter pilot? As shown in the last pic but using a Meziere plate. (other than the extra .020"/.5mm thickness of the Meziere)

PATC shows a spacer that is to be used in this manner. I asked them if the flat side was the TC side and if it was machined to engage the crank on the other side. The guy just said, "ya, it comes with instructions." ??? Not too helpful. If not, it is basically just a GM spacer.

Looks like some on Tech are just using the Hughes spacer for their LS to
TH400 swaps. Basically just an extension for the TC snout.

How did this adpater work out for you? Looks like it is basically just an extension for the converter snout.
