I used a 4l60e reluctor and the cruise works fine. not sure what everyone else did... my truck was a cable tb v6 to begin with so it had the module etc.

Speaking of cruise, once I adjusted speedo parameters (tooth count, rpm's, etc) in the tune for my new gears, wheels/tires, and T56, I've only had cruise up to 4th gear. And I still don't know why to be honest.

I didn't replace a reluctor wheel, but rather looked up what the tooth count was for the GTO T56 tranny and did the calculations from there to input into the pcm. Anybody's thoughts for proper operation of cruise control would be awesome.

Is the reluctor something inside the tranny? How difficult is it to change?

Anyone in CA done the T56 swap and passed smog? I'm curious if tuning out the auto junk in the PCM would cause the truck to fail the diagnostic test.

Is there any wiring that MUST be done for the truck to be able to start and drive when swapping from the 4L60E to the T56? I'm okay with SES and ABS lights, and the speedo not working. I have a limited time to put in the trans and might have to wait until later to finish the little details like wiring.

Would any of you mind checking over my parts list and seeing if I missed anything? I'll be doing this swap in my '01 ECSB.
  1. T56 6-speed transmission, used, rebuilt with Stage 2 parts
  2. Flywheel, used, resurfaced and balanced with PP
  3. Stock shifter, used
  4. GTO Bellhousing, used
  5. GTO Starter, used, taken apart, inspected, and cleaned
  6. Clutch pedal, used
  7. Master cylinder, used, taken apart, inspected, and cleaned
  8. SPEC 3+ clutch kit
  9. Needle pilot bearing – 14061685
  10. Throwout bearing
  11. ARP pressure plate bolts - 134-2201
  12. ARP flywheel bolts - 330-2801
  13. Brake pedal pad - 15706041
  14. Clutch pedal pad - 15706041
  15. 5-speed crossmember - 15748078
  16. Energy Suspension poly trans mount
  17. Slave cylinder, GM
  18. Clutch switch – 15027967 (not sure how to hook it up yet)
  19. F-body lower shifter boot, used
  20. Bellhousing to block bolts, M10x1.5x40, 8
  21. Trans to bellhousing bolts, M10x1.5x40, 8
  22. Custom -3AN clutch pressure and bleed lines
All of these parts are new unless specified otherwise. I need the truck for commuting so I have to be able to finish this in a weekend, or hopefully one full day; want to make sure I have all of the parts before starting.

I'm going to install gears and a Truetrac after the trans is in and working. Not going to worry about the center console for now.

Do you have the line to connect the master to the slave?

Yup #22, I'm making my own master to slave and remote slave bleed lines. The line that came with my master I was told is just barely long enough to use with a vette slave. So I bought some fittings and line to make my own. It was about $90 for all of the fittings and hose from Summit.

I have got some issue to bring up here. I have PMed some guys...and have not heard anything.

My ABS light, brake light, and speedo are all out of whack.

I have 20 inch wheels with 29" tall tires.

My truck was a factory 5 speed.

I have a GTO 6 speed.

I used a shifter cup so I could run a Camaro shifter...the GTO shifter was to far back for me.

I used a Camaro slave and a Corvette clutch and pressure plate.

Made a custom driveshaft...customized the crossmember area.

My cruise works just fine in 6th gear.

What can I do to fix the issues????????

I have a reluctor out of a automatic tranny, but have been told it will not work. I think the reluctor in the tranny is 17 and the automatic 40.

My tuner says he can not tune it out via the PCM, but maybe can play with the speedo settings to correct...we are not sure.

There has got to be a way to get this fixed....
