oh no!! more 80e questions!
Scored myself an 80e today, a 93 model. 12 oclock bolt hole doesnt concern me, but its missing a few sensors that i have questions about. I plan on buying a tci rebuild kit, new internal harness etc., and drop it off at the local builder. Excuse me if these questions seem dumb, for im not to keen on late model trans. First, the trans is missing the main plug in on the driverside. Basically a round hole...i believe its the tcc/ temperature hook up. What is needed to fill the hole? Will a new internal harness take care of that? And when ordering a rebuild kit, and harness, do i purchase it for the year of the trans, or.the vehicle year its going in..my truck is an.05. Thanks guys

I would recommend you stay away from anything TCI ( except their electronic controller). Get a Borg Warner factory rebuild kit .
In your case you need the kit for the year trans you are using. Check into getting an upgraded sprag . Not sure on the harness on that year trans, but you might also need a speed sensor and wire it into the PCM .
I'm sure some one here has swapped in a 97' -older trans in and can help ya.

Some of the hard parts are specific between the years. I have been told the 91-93 had oiling issues.
If you have not already done so, Pick up an ATSG manual this will give you a little insight on what is different between the years. You will need a specific kit for your year range. If the Tag is still on the side of the transmission check the date code to be sure your getting what the person says.
Go back though here and read up on the "Dual Feed mod". This will help with lubrication in the back of the unit. Here is a link https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...ebuild-495376/

Ok fellas, bought got this wrapped up..lol. ive ordered all my parts for this year trans, the rebuild kit, harness, bought all new electronics etc. Hopefully this will be my last batch of questions. I was told to reuse the prnd123 switch off my 60 and slide it on the gear shaft...some say it wont fit, and ill need a new shaft. Supposedly the one out of my 60 will work. Any clearifaction on this? And next is the cable bracket..my 80 doesnt have holes for the bracket, so what is needed, and where do i get one? Thanks for the help.

Well it seems that any 80 will work is half truth...lol my 80 doesnt have holes to mount my gear switch, or a cable bracket...what if i went floor shifter? That would take care of the cable bracket, but what would i do with gear switch? Put it in neutral and tuck it under the truck somewhere? And go directly from thr bm shifter to the stock shifter arm?
