Default Which one would you take (trans)

So here are the two options I have narrowed it down to:

1. Get a new 4L70E and put a shift kit and servos in it, total cost $1100-1200 after core exchange.

2. Get an FLT level 4 4L80E and the Speed Engineering conversion kit, total cost $4400-4600 after core exchange.

Will be behind LQ9 with all other mods listed in sig. I know the 4L80E will be tons stronger but I can replace a 4L70E four times before I pay for the 80E conversion. I don't have a lot of $$ right now.

Do you have a GM part number for the 4L70E?

Go with the 4l70e, somebody needs to see how these hold up to FI. I volunteer you to be the guinea pig

Go with what has been proven to work, after you pay the install fee twice(when it blows up) for the 70 you could have bought the 80 and saved yourself some hartache

What are you hp/tq/et goals? That will tell you where you need to go with the tranny decision. BTW, a stock 80E with a shift kit will take you plenty far. A level 4 might be overkill depending on your goals.

I agree with vanilla get a nice 80e put a shift kit in it and get it freshened up for 1200-1500 total then whatever it costs for the conversion then you will be good. Like I said before an 80e basically stock can take ALOT of abuse and that is what I will be running behind my setup the 60e family is inherently weak and all the things to beef them up are just patching up a **** poor design from the beginning.

Goal is 600 fwhp and whatever the corresponding tq # is. ET goal high 12's, low 13's. The 80E conversion is going to cost me 1100-1200 for the conversion kit itself, on top of the cost of the trans, so at a minimum it will be twice as much.

Save up and go l80e or l85e for sure, dont sink money into a trans 6that has been proven unreliable at high hp in our heavy trucks.
