What are the hp/tq limits of a stock 80E? One with shift kit and servos?

According to Zippy a stock 80e with just a transgo shift kit is good for 600-700hp. He knows his stuff IMO thats why Im going with an 80e with a couple of other little things done since my hp level is a little bit higher.

Oh and Thunder if you can get ahold of an 85e it has some updates in it like the 60-65e kind of thing. You have to get a different bellhousing off a normal 80e I think is what Zippy told me since supposedly they are behind the 8.1L but I dont even know if the 8.1L has a diff bellhousing pattern or not does anybody know?

If the 80E will go to 600 with just a shift kit I think I will stick with that. I should be under 600, but if I plan for 600 that gives me room to spare. I'm thinking I will be around 575 fwhp or so. That should drop the price down, maybe I'll be able to do the motor and trans at the same time. Thanks for the help everyone!

Yep I'm in the same boat as you Thunder550, I dont know rather to get a Level 5 4L60e Rock-On with 3200 Precision Stall for around $2800, or go with a 80e and conversion kit for $4000. I know you get what you paid for but dang.. Thats nice chunk of change.

I've decided to bite the bullet and go with the stock power pig 80E plus shift kit also. Have you done any research on a stall?

I'm with a couple others. Go 4L80E of the two choices. I'd have to think that somewhere less than level 4 will work. If not stock with shift kit.

Sorry man, I didn't know that question was directed at me. When I called I didn't get a p/n, I just told them it was the trans off the 2006 Trailblazer SS, and the guy confirmed that it was a 4L70E.
