opinions on posi carrier?
what are you guys running for a posi differential carrier for street/towing use. i cant seem to find a diff that says it fits in the rear of a 2004 tahoe.
from what ive read you can use the carrier for a 99 c/k but you need oversized bearings?
i called summit and the guy recomended a tru track but didnt know what i needed to make it fit so i just hung up. any help is apreciated guys.

see if you have a 10-bolt or a 14bolt, im 90% sure you have a 10bolt.
if so, a lsd for the GM 8.6" 10-bolt will work ( thats what you have). the 99-older had a 8.5" 10bolt and that is what the summit tech was referring to.
a detroit trutrac for a GM 8.6" 10bolt rear end is what you need

if you get it for the 8.6" it will just bolt right in, or install like any other lsd would. im not experienced with the internals of the rear end.however if you get it for the 8.5" you will need those oversized bearings
actually eaton and detroit are made by the same company, one of them bought the other one out but cant remember which one. eaton makes a lsd which is just as good except it has clutches that CAN wear out over time, whereas the detroit has gears. the only time ive heard of either breaking is from wheelhop on slicks, detrimental to any rear end setup.
