Default Ordering a 4l80e Converter - Opinions Needed

Going to place an order for a converter in the next couple days and wanted some opinions on both stall speed, as well as companies. The build is as follows:

-K10 pickup, lifted on 37s (probably 37s, if not 35s), 4.88 gearing, NP241 tcase
-6.0 LQ4, pretty mild build, flat top pistons, springs, cam, rods
-Cam specs: Summit 8713r1 - 222/232 112 LSA
-Truck will be used as a weekend cruiser, no drag racing, want to be able to cruise comfortably on the highway, but still have good lowend

I've reached out to the following:

-Yank, recommends pro truck 3200, $1099
-FTI, recommends single disc 2800, $989
-Circle D, recommends 265mm with 3000 or 3200, $1099

I know all these companies are great to work with, I am more concerned with getting the right stall. All the pricing is relatively similar, so which ones do you guys recommend? Does anyone have any opinions particularly about the stall I should be going for?

Thanks in advance

I think all of those are pretty believable. None are "wrong".

For highway cruising, the TCC will be locked. Converters are all the same, for that purpose, subject to the durability of the clutch. Where a converter, esp stall RPM, will matter the most, is launch; and then after that, recovery after shifting.

I don't think they'll stall differently enough to be noticeable.

That said, I think you'd want the stall to be toward the high end of the range, especially given that a K10 is a relatively light 4WD vehicle. ("relative" being a "relative" kind of term of course... lighter than an Avalanche or 2500 or the like)

I'd probably go with the Circle D or the Yank at 3200 for this application.

Thanks, this is the kind of info I was looking for. I agree, it seems like if I'm spending this kind of $ on a converter, a 3200 stall makes sense. Anyone else have a preference or reason to pick either Circle D or Yank? Both have good customer service, but Dave at Yank replied to all my emails extremely quickly which was nice.

I've been using circle d for 15 years with zero complaints. Mainly using them in turbo trucks that are daily driven, tow and drag race.

Be curious to see what you think. My k5 is a built 383//4l80//np208 on 37’s with 4.88’s and I went with a milder 2200-2500 stall. Slightly different use case as it may see some crawling and I didn’t want to high of a stall.

I ended up with a 3000-3200 stall from the Torque Converter Shop in Havazu, Az. I’ll let you know how it works out when I get it driving

I've tried quite a few converter companies including all that you've listed. FTI has been my favorite so far. My latest converter is a pro torque but it is still boxed up.

Something to consider if you're not racing it. I've used a place outta Chicago on eBay. They had a billet option which I ordered. No issues. It's GM88H replacement or "K2". Flashed to 2400 with a 5.3 in an avalanche.
