I am ordering a Detroit TrueTac for my truck. Its an 02 Silverado 4x4 with a stock 10-bolt. It did have the G80 option with 3.73 gears. I was wondering which model I would need to purchase? Do the axles have 28 or 30 splines?

what is the G80 option?

 

G80 is the click bang aww son of a beach "locking rear differential" option GM offers. I would stay away from it, infact I'd run away from it. I'll take my open diff over that stupid click bang slide you into a car locker anyday.


I wish I could tell you on the spline count. Does the true track come with a shim pack for setting up the ring gear back lash? If not you might want to get one of those while you're at it. The stock shims MAY work but they are actually not supposed to be reused because they are cast iron and are prone to damage or even breakage when reinstalling them.
