Overload spring
Those of you that have removed you're overload spring how much did it lower the rear of you're truck just the thickness of the spring or more. Thanks for you're input.

About the thickness of the spring, maybe 1/4" more. I forgot to measure mine when I did it.
I used to load up my bed to 500 lbs and that was about the limit without the overload.

My truck dropped about 1.5" It looks like I am going to need to notch it or drive with about 20 psi in the helper bags which make it ride too stiff.
Since the truck was resting on the overload spring, it wasnt transferring weight to the back and spinning off the line.
Here it was before I removed the overload:

Yeah I went to the track Sat and couldnt hook for **** so I just ordered some adjustable front shocks and Ive heard of disconecting the front sway bar also helps with traction. I can not go down another 1.5'' in the rear and I still need to haul some weight every now and then so I better not remove it. I Love youre truck J.

The shocks are a no go I don't like them at all and I'm sending them back. But I still want to remove the helper spring, you all that have done this did you remove the center pin or what, how does this work as I am not used to working on suspensions but I wouldn't think removing the pin would not the way to go. there is an 1.5 difference between the front and back of the truck I think this mod will help me get out of the hole better at the track transferring weight

When I removed mine it came down about an inch after it settled. To pull it you just unbolt the u-bolts and lower the axle some, clamp the springs with a big c-clamp, unbolt the center pin, pull the overload out, and finally put the center pin back in and button every thing back up. I had to use some spacers with my center pin though because there weren't enough threads with the overload gone.

Yes I have caltracs (Cant imagine the truck with out them) but on the hot humid days the track is so greasy I still have wheel spin even on my slicks so I just need a little more bite. One inch would be perfect.

take it out, will help some. get some more weight off the front and on the rear tires where it belongs. you can still haul stuff under 500-600 lbs, unless you have a lot of drop. yes, caltracs are a must have love em.
