Default p0894

In the past few weeks I have thrown the p0894 code (transmission component slipping). Both times i was on the freeway at a slight incline driving 60-65mph. Once the code is cleared it did not return for about two weeks. If i drive around town off the freeway i notice my shifts are harder than usual but no codeds are thrown. Also looks like gas mileage has suffered a little too. This is a Performabuilt level 3 which I have had about 3 trouble free years out of. Gonna drop the pan and change fluids this weekend should I change the TCC soleniod while I am there? What should I look for? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That code is generally caused either because the converter clutch is slipping or lockup was commanded but did not happen. It will result in max line and very hard shifts and no lockup at all generally once the code is set.
The plan you have is probably a good first start.

Do you thisk it is a strong possibility the TCC solenoid has a crack and is leaking. Trans is working fine other than the obove issues.

just bringing this back to the top...transmission gods have any input?

exactly what my truck is doing at this time. I can make a full blown pass no problems. If I start the truck to drive, I can drive it back and forth 15 miles one way and never see a problem. If I drive on a longer trip the converter doesn't seem to want to lock up(has around 150-200 rpm slip and eventually just won't lock). Had the pan off, aboslutely nothing out of the ordinary in there, fluid is still very red, no burnt smell

From other places I've read, it could be the tcc enable solenoid????

Anymore advice is greatly appreciated

I got a 2005 Silverado doing this too. Everytime it is driven on a long (about 100 miles) trip, this code comes up and sounds exactly like mentioned above.

My question: Is this problem able to fix without pulling the transmission?

My dad's van just threw this code. It's a '07 1-ton with a 4L80E and about 175k miles. What's the most common fix?

Mine turned out to be an exposed wire for the tcc solenoid was shorting out. Put some black tape on the wire and fixed it
