@ Static54
Yes I am a GM owner I have a '05 Tahoe 4wd that I plan to test with (wifes ride she wont mind!) and I have a '91 Chevy that I plan to install a LS motor and 4L80E into very soon also looking for a new ride so I can retire my '91 and use it play with. I plan to have my controller control other makes of transmissions other than just GM but that will come later.

A little update, I have been working with the controller some and I hope to have some test PCB made in the next week or so and I will build up a couple of controllers and see how they run on my Tahoe and a couple others that have Trucks.

Also I said in an previous post that the 4l60e trans when it is shifted into overdrive at the console their is no engine braking when downshifting and I am correct but I have been looking at some of the ways people have setup 4l60e trans to be a full manual with no electronics and it should be posiable to modify the valvebody and make it engine brake when paddle shifted down it would not be real hard to convert one over and worse case you can just swap out the valvebody back to stock if it didnt work or keep it as a shifter controlled manual trans.

I am looking for a core to build up for my 91' chevy truck but have been putting most of my time into the controller I like the idea of manual shift all the time It is a five speed now.

I understand the "cool factor" on a sports car that youre going to road race or something, but for a truck (should I say 99.9% of any/all trucks) this will be like **** on a boar hog... novel idea though.

There's a few out there that I've seen over the years. Still interesting though.

yeah transgo level 3 shift kit is “full manual“ as in stays in whatever gear selector is on.. hd2 will hold gears but still shift auto when in 3 or od.

I installed a b&m quicksilver ratchet shifter in my silvy and it'll slow you down if you bump down a gear and coast. Lots of fun with the slapstick.

I have been working on a Trannsmission Controller for some time now and I have been thinking about a a lite version of the controller that would allow someone to add a manual paddle shift to their transmission or to plug between the stock TCM and the transmission then be able to take manual control over the transmission and paddle shift it then switch control back to the stock TCM at any time.
Any suggestions I am about to start some testing on my 2005 Tahoe with a 4L60E please let me know if you think this would be worth my time because I think it would a very nice upgrade to be able to shift exactly when you want to.
Thanks for any feed back!

I'm just starting the conversion and trying to do the manual shift also. I saw a transmision company that worked an 4L60 with paddles. I will find them again, but I don't want their paddles because they require and aftermarket non-airbag wheel. They also had a controller that got 6 speeds out of a 4L60 by using the overdrive between each gear. I want to use a push (actually pull) button to activate the manual mode and a momentary toggle to shift up and/or down. This is still a dream, but why not? I was looking for data on a 4L80 thinking that is what they put behind my 2007 L76, but later found specs that show a 4L70. Not much data on a 4L70 but it seems like a heavier 4L60 with little other differences.
Have you worked out the manual shifter mode? I am pretty cheap and feel this has to be easier than it seems to be.

6speeds from a 60E??? Sounds like someone sold you a line of BS, they might be locking or unlocking the converter to make it "feel" as it has more gears but there's no mechanical way for a 60E to actually have 6 different forward ratios.

confusion with 6l80e?

If you're “pretty cheap“, this is probably NOT for you.
