Default PB lvl2 or 80e w shift kit

im torn....either way im stuck with a 2400 price tag.

Performabuilt LVL2 with a rebuilt PI converter (gonna tighten it up and make it a triple disc) 1900ish tranny only plus 400-500rebuild.

OR

stock 80e with a shift kit and a Yank 3600 i think 2000-2400 depending the crap i have to deal with.

im running 4:10s and i dont want to go lower gears unless i can find something thatll work well with a 305/50/20

im a roll racer more than anything but i havent really been racing.

the truck has a best of 12.7 @ 104

6.2
stock milled heads
228/236 112+2
Pacesetter LTs/OR-y/36" muffler
Yukon 4:10s/Tru-Trac
4" custom CAI
Truckshop dyno tune
28" DR and 275/55/20s as street trim
full weight.

i see everyone running a 80e with S/C'ers and Turbos...no one really runs these trannys N/A. i just dont want to spend the money on the 80e swap and then be unhappy! if i ran 12.6-12.7 at 104+ with the tranny upgrade then id be happy with the swap.

any input please lemme know!

im leaning towards the PB lvl2 an restalled converter

What is it you are worried about that would make you unhappy with the 80E? I have a stock 80E with a stock 6.0. Stock converter. Next mod will be a converter, but for now it works well.

I like the pb lvl2. I have basicly a level 3 PB, and not near the hp. I would say 80e will be the better roll race trans., and less hp loss thru the 60e.

it took you a 75shot to get 12.7 and in a RCSB vs my 5800lbs CCSB. im not adding heads/intake/1500 LTs/500 exhaust and blah blah lol. i built a 12.9 truck but its faster than i planned. i like the way the truck runs on the 60e...im just worried itll be too much transmission for what i want and ill be slower.

If you're a roll racer, you won't be slower. The 80e has closer gear ratios. If you race from 40 or below, the tranny is going to shift into 1st and pretty much chew up the pavement.
I vote 80e...upgrade potential is much higher.

80e gets my vote... close ratio will be bad *** for roll racing...
and idk how long a PB 60e is gonna last behind a hvy *** CC.

my PI3600 is a 9.5" so my shifts fall to 5600ish and its pulling hard again...if the 80e can pull like that then ill be happy. 40mph is the bottom of 2nd gear for me now. 35mph i can pull it into 1st and roast the tires. i guess imma try an 80e..just gotta figure out what converter imma run. its gonna be a fun i guess

My lvl 2 is holding GREAT in my heavy *** crew cab, boosted 4wd launches, mid 12 sec. 1/4 times, 8k lb trailers, etc etc. Almost everyone I know that has a pb lvl 2 loves it. Not deciding which one is best for you, but don't worry about the performabuilt reliability. It will take what you have right now just fine. I would feel safe with your combo with another 75-100hp and the pb level 2, if you plan on more than that, then you might as well go 80e.

That's bad *** man.. iv nevr really trusted a 60e in a hvy vehicle, but hey if it works then bad ***. Plus u get a lil better overdrive vs. An 80e.
