Yea, no kidding. The trans is the only thing I have left to upgrade in the driveline, but mine went out unexpectadly and had it rebuilt locally for about the same price as a performabuilt last year Ill never make that mistake again, although the rebuild is supposedly upgraded...

I have a PI triple disc stall, 800hp driveshaft, and 14b rear, now all I need is the trans...

both companies are great!!

but i can only speak on one, and thats performabuilt the level 2 has lived up and beyond what i expected, those that know me i beat on my truck every weekend if theres a track open, plus drive it daily, laying 480 + to the ground there trans has treated me right. call it lucky or call it a great piece of work, all i know its still running strong

and getting ready to see a 150 shot !!!

the main thing of keeping a well built tranny together is removing the heat and keeping it cool!!!

i run 2 tranny coolers in parallel to each other plus a deep pan at 170* tops in mid summer making 5-8 passes a night is GREAT!!!

Hardened shafts make it worth it to me, since I had another truck snap shaft in 1/2. It wasn't any of the site sponsors, rest easy. IIRC, FLT also upgrades other goodies.

True on skimping not lasting.
Wow, you've taken some serious steps in the driveline. Nice.

As Tom mentioned, the billet input and output shafts cost about that much combined, if not more, not to mention I believe that there is one or two extra mods that the Level7 gets.

There are many pics around here of both factory and hardened shafts blown to bits...if you plan on any decent HP I wouldn't hesitate (and didn't ) to go for the billet shafts in the Level7

Everybody talks about the 4l65e being a pick of **** and upgrade to a 4l80e. Now the only reason I see for that is if you are launching hard off the hole. With my maggie I have to idle off the hole and get into it. This is on radials, I am thinking I will be able to come outharder if I had DRs. So since I have to baby it of the line, wouldn't that make it easier on the tranny. I have had my maggie on for about 10-12k miles and I have made about 20 passes and usually do my ocational street races. It is stock except for a shift kit and servos. I also change my tranny fluid about 3 times since I have had the maggie. Temp has never been above 180 and maintains at about 140 always. So is it worth it for me to even upgrade to a 80.
