I do not have a crush sleeve in it right now.. Just trying to set up the diff.. I installed the new 3.73 pinion with my stock pinion shim and a set of handmade install setup bearings that slip off and on.. I tightened the yoke till i had a very slight resistance and the pinion still spun freely.. I then installed the carrier, and it only turns maybe a third of a turn then hits a hard stop, then a third of a turn back, then back, then removed the carrier to find these marks..

they look like the start of the marks in the thread above.. Like if i threw it together like it is there would be marks like that in about 15 feet..

Ok, i should have thought of this sooner.. The bearing that came off the old pinion is sitting on my desk at work, and apparently doesnt exist.. Nobody seems to be able to cross it to another brand.. the bearings that came with the kit had races with them, but i didnt replace them, ***umed that they were the same bearing... Is this the answer to my issues? Do i have to use the race that came with the bearings? Is there more than one option on these trucks or this family of axle?

HELP!!! Have to have this truck going today!!!

YES! I had the same problem on my 03 i used to have. Nobody could get me the stock bearing! I bought me a new one but it looked different. I tried to use the stock race with the new bearing but it didn't work. Found out they didn't even fit together. The two races had different angles to them. Anyway, i pulled the stock race out and put both the new bearing and new race together and the old race and the old bearing together and they measured the same height. So i put BOTH the new race and new bearing in and it worked like a charm. Hope this helps.
