The plastic tabs on the rear ujoint ?????
Im changing the rear ujoint on a 2002 tahoe. how do you get the pressed in bushings out of the housing that is a part of the driveshaft? I noticed the plastic pins that are pressed in?? I know i usually drive them out of the old chevys but i didnt wanna get too awful rough with it before i inquired about it haha

Also im not really tryin to take the plastic pins out unless i have to, to help remove the rear u-joint caps that are pressed in..Im afraid to beat on them too hard to try getting them out

Yes, it does. You hafta heat plastic to get the u-jt. out. It'll oooze out when a little torch heats it. Use the 1 at work or buy 1. At most, including the bottle, $65 tops. It depends on how u get it configured.

It is not just a plastic pin. The plastic is injected through the holes you are seeing, and is what the factory uses to secure the u-joints. Just as has already been mentioned, you will need some form of heat source to melt out the plastic retainers to ease removal of the caps.

also, do you have a harbor freight around you anywhere? They have a $40 kit thats good for pressing out ujoints after its melted, plus they do ball joints too......i've used mine countless times, well worth it
