Something in my transmission took a dump last night.

Went to get some beer, driving unusually normal.

Backed out of the parking spot, put into drive to go... Gave it some gas..

It felt like it dropped out of gear and then banged back into gear and it started moving.

After 10mph it makes the sound that a starter makes when it does not engage the flexplate/flywheel.

It appears I have my gears, but it makes horrific sounds.

The 'park' brake in the transmission does not work either. I had to block the wheels so it didnt roll down the street as my ebrake has not been functioning for some time.

Also want to point out, the ABS light came on.

Any ideas while im pulling it out?

a little more to it.

Shifting into d-3 works fine and the truck moves.

shifting into reverse results in horrible noises.

maybe just a broken parking pawl? i think thats what its called... the thingy that engages when its in park to keep it from rolling, to lock the trans.

thats about what mine did...like i neutral dropped it every time i take off out of first then i just lost all gears about a day later but my park works great but i the truck will not roll backwards in any gear or anything running or offf its wierd and my abs light came on when all this happend so ya its prob about gone

Found the problem....

rear ring gear went bye bye,oopss.
