i couldnt tell ya about the front drive shaft, but try greasing your slip yoke and see if that helps.

It very well may be one of the CV axles. The denali is AWD, so sometimes you get a popping from them when you take off, if they are going bad.

He's referring to the slip yoke on the rear drive shaft, it's very common for them to make a popping noise. Ther'es a revised nickel-plated slip yoke to help the issue, greasing the splines helps, and lets you know if you've diagnosed the noise (if the noise goes away after greasing).

Mine used to POP like a ****, as I'd pull away from a stop or just roll on lightly from 1-3mph...It was so loud that people in cars next to me would look over to see if I was shooting at them

I am not sure if it was the shaft or yoke as it went away immediately after swapping out the shocks and has not ever returned.

I have been fighting the same popping noises for months now in my truck, sometimes it's very loud. Greasing the slip yoke does nothing for me as the popping is still there. Terver you say yours stop completely when you changed the shocks?

yup...I'd grease the yoke and I thought it improved but it'd happen again, even had the nickel plated upgrade installed, I just accepted it as a truck noise I'd have to live with...since changing the front shocks it has disappeared.

Yea, I have by now just accepeted the noise as part of the truck. Sweet I'm going to look into replacing my shocks now, I have been meaning to do this soon anyway.
