The Detroit TrueTrac is an Eaton brand. I don't get any squealing whatsoever and locks up everytime I need it to. I like that it's all helical gears and doesn't have any clutches to wear. I've had it in the truck for about 3 yrs or so and bang on it hard almost everyday with no issues.Over about a 4 yr period I've went through two trans, the stock G80, sheared 4 teeth off my ring gear, and busted a ujoint on the driveshaft. The TT is the only part that hasn't given me any problems at all.
Here's a link from their website

I am very familiar with the TrueTrac and actually bought one to install, but decided to sell it and will go with the Posi if my G80 blows (knock on wood). I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

Agreed, Eaton offers the TrueTrac as well as the Posi (your traditional clutched limited slip) traction aids.

but Eaton bought out Detroit.. so its a eaton Trutrac or a Detroit Trutrac.. they are the same now.
Also a trutrac doesnt "Lock", it binds up

Anyone heard of a 6 lug 3/4 ton rear end? Im curious if the rear end out of a free truck i got from a buddy is worth swapping out for my ten bolt. Is it limited slip or posi? I've never seen one before but it looks bigger than mine but not as big as a 12 bolt and it's 6 lug

6 lug 2500's are from the 88-98 era and are a 9.5" 14 bolt. Could be open, could have a gov lock and be anywhere from 3.42 to 4.10 depending on the truck. It's bigger than a 12 bolt...... which honestly in comparison even to a 10 bolt is a piece of junk strength wise. The little gain in size on the crown gear if offset by the small and subsequently weaker pinion. The 9.5" 14 bolt is bigger like I said; being a 12 bolt has a 8.875" crown and hasn't been built since the 70's. The 9.5" is still used today under the 6.2 powered 1/2 tons and is the diff that is in the back of both of my trucks. You usually won't ever hurt it.

i just put lowering shackles in the back earlier today, and when we lifted the truck the driver side shock fully extended and busted. Now i guess i'm in the market for some new shocks since the ones i have now continue to bottom out at every bump in the road lol what shocks are you guys running on lowered trucks?
