Jeez those 16” rotors look huge compared to the 4piston calipers with 13.5” rotors.

Do the PPVs come with a different rear brake setup?

The PPV detail sheet references single piston rear calipers but I do not have the particulars on them. I presume it is the standard T1 truck caliper with electric parking brake.

Yeah nothing special. Even the Brembo “upgrade” from GM is a painted electric parking brake caliper. It’s just a 12v switch…anyone try that?

Not yet, but I am scheming! I havent had a parking brake in my Tahoe for years..... and one built into the caliper would be excellent

How does it not kill the battery if its just 12v on? its gotta be 12v to extend, lock and then maybe a -12v to retract. It can't be 12+ continuously

Arthur do you not need a working parking break to pass inspection where you live?

I believe the epb mechanism is just a latch. The brake has to be applied hydraulically then the epb actuator holds the piston in that position when applied. Just by looking at pictures of the caliper, I presume it is a motor actuator that uses +/- 12V to apply/release thru a current sensing circuit in the EPB module triggered by the BCM.

I like the idea of a park brake also being a mechanical fail safe brake as well, which the EPB is not.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

ha

Sorry to be so sarcastic, but hahahaha

1) I live in BFE New Mexico, you can make a shifter kart here street legal lmao
2) The thought of drum in hat parking brake being a mechanical fail safe is hilarious. I have 4 vehicles in my yard/garage with drum in hat, and 1 of them works: the Corvette. I think they are a joke
